The vision

Rocks 'n Rivers aims to communicate joy and create enthusiasm in people, as well as generate growth in Nordland through a creative use of nature and outdoor activities.

Rocks'n Rivers wants to help create a positive relationship between the local community and the rest of the world. Meløy is unique and the combination of sea and mountains, islands and fjords, glaciers and caves within a relatively small area makes Meløy into a 'goldmine'.

Rocks'n Rivers & lifemastering

We are committed to help (young) people and develop services which meet their real social or psychological needs. We are particularly interested in helping youth with behavioural problems. Through participation on our trips and programs they become more aware of themselves and their limits, while learning to work with others. Young people are tomorrow's leaders and we want to treat them as such.

There is a positiv corrolation between using the outdoor life actively and having a good mental health. Fellowship is an important part of our trips, and provides peace of mind, social competence and has elements of play and creativity. People today are in need of positiv challenges, and it is beneficial to get some rain in the face and freeze a little. Through outdoor experiences we learn to controle our body, while skills are developed and challenges overcome. Speed, excitement and a toleration of risk is also a natural part of our activities.

History

Rocks 'n Rivers was established in march 2007 out of a desire to invest in Nordland through using the nature. We desire to see the population of Meløy grow and desire to help in this process by providing and creating new services and employement opportunities. In 2007 we started a ski school in Glomfjord.

In the summer of 2008 and 2009 we arranged trips for a Dutch touroperator. These groups has visited Meløy only. We established also a good partnership with Nordland Turselskap, Svartisen AS and other local businesses.

Rocks'n Rivers overtook guiding on the Svartisen glacier in the season of 2009. We also bought 7 seakayaks and started with introductory courses and daytrips.

In 2011 we started to give outdoor adventure based courses to teachers in schools and pre-schools. We work together with the municipality of Meløy.
